BeamBot

Jerusalem Mini Maker Faire, Bloomfield Science Museum 2013

BeamBot is a robot designed to display the time using a laser pointed at a phosphoric luminous paper.

The concept behind BeamBot is based on the fact that it takes about one minute for a written text to fade out from the sheet. It fades away just in time to draw a new text on the paper. Perfect for a clock.

To spice things up, every 10 minutes, BeamBot will scrabble a crazy pattern on the glow-paper. This also helps clean up the sheet from leftover marks of light that haven’t faded yet.
